January is so blah ...

Kind of ...

I feel like I should blog today. I'm not sure why. Nothing exciting is happening, and I really don't think anything exciting will happen today. Though I shouldn't say that. January is NOT my month. I shouldn't be driving this month, but I have to get to work somehow.

So the story goes like this:
Last January I was driving to work from my parents house. I was on the freeway, cause it's the quickest, in the left lane driving along, when almost out of nowhere I see a freakin metal ladder laying across the left most lane (the one I was driving in). I don't really remember much of what happened next, cause it all happened so quickly. I remember hitting the breaks, knowing full well I was going to br running over the ladder in my '97 Nissan Sentra. Well next thing I know, I get hit from behind, get pushed over the ladder and end up in the center of the divided freeway, though I haven't hit the median.

I couldn't get out of the drivers' side of the car, not like I really wanted to move much. A ton of people stopped to make sure I, and the guy who hit me (who was driving a pretty new RED Dodge Pick-up), were okay. They must have called the police, cause I was just sitting there kinda stunned. When I realized what happened, I called my dad, cause he was still at home, sleeping, at this time. After that, I decided that I needed to get out of my car. Some people helped me to open up my passenger side door, cause I was too close to the median to open the driver door.

After we pried open the door (it was stuck cause the guy that rear ended me had pushed the back end of my car basically to the front) I just kind of sat there until the medics arrived. They did the whole routine, taking vitals and wrapping me up and putting me on that God aweful stretcher and putting me in the ambulance. My dad had still not shown up by the time they were taking me to the hospital (yay!). So on and so forth, I had X-rays of my neck, nothing critically wrong, though I know now that the accident messed up my neck cause I get really bad headaches now. Thank goodness for Chiropractors!!

Ok, so that was story #1. Story #2 is from the year previous to last.

My sister and I were on our way back up from Tuc-son. I had been going to school down there and was done, so she went with me to help pack some stuff up to bring home. It was kind of rainy out by the time we were getting close to home. And, of course, 90% of people in Arizona have no clue how to drive in the rain. So we were coming up on a red light. The people in front of me hit their brakes really quick, so I slowed down quick as well, making sure there was enough room in front of me. In case I got hit from behind, I don't want to have to worry about hitting the guy in front of me. So, lo and behold, the girl behind me rear-ends me. Yay again! She ends up pushing me into the center median/turning lane. The back of her little Toyota goes underneath the back of my Sentra. So my sister goes to make sure they are okay, and then calls the cops. She gets back in the car to avoid getting hit by a car, cause the people in Arizona don't know how to drive CAREFULLY when there has just been an accident. So we go through the whole Ambulance deal, and head to the hospital. I really hate those stretchers.

The girl ended up being like 16, and just getting her licence maybe 3 days prior, and it was probably a new car too. I wasn't paying too much attention.

So those car accidents are the reason I really don't want to be driving this month. I have this bad habit of getting hit from behind. My first major car accident I was rear-ended by a freakin Suburban, and out of that accident I got a herniated disk in my lower back. Yay! Back problems for the rest of my life! Woohoo.

So, driving is just not my thing. Wish me luck surviving this month!
