Red and dead

What a busy weekend, or at least Saturday! I had my friend KJ's Red Party, which was so much fun, and then my sister's Murder Mystery Party. I was so tired by the end of the day, I was in bed asleep at 11pm! I wanted to go back to KJ's and hang out with the people I don't see much of anymore.

Sunday was just that, though the night was kind of exciting. I finally got to ride my new mountain bike!! It was really fun! It was totally different though because I have shoes with cleets that click into the pedals. Ken took me down the street to the elementary school because next to it there is a lot of grass. I had to practice locking my shoes in and getting them unlocked from the pedals. Ken put me in almost full body armor - armguards and legguards - so if I fell I wouldn't get hurt too bad. But I did really well. I didn't fall once, but trying to get up those hills was killer! I am so out of shape :)

After I practiced a bit we rode over to Subway to get dinner and then headed home to eat.

My butt hurts lol. I need to either get more padding, or adjust the seat. We'll see. I can't wait to go again!

And so, as the day continues, I develope a sinus headache. Pain .. dull pain .. I just want to close my eyes for like 15 minutes. Break is soon. Maybe I will then.

Moosey Moosey!

Horray! I am so excited. Now that Ken is back in school, he will have plenty of time to update his BLOG! I can't wait. He also has a Photo Blog link on his main page.

I still have to go to JoAnn Fabrics and take back the materials I bought for my poodle skirt. Ugh. I hate doing that stuff. Why couldn't the people there just not be retards? It's not that difficult, really.

Today has been a long day so far. I don't have much work to do today, so I've been helping out some of the other divisions. It's really kind of boring. The bad thing about that is that tomorrow I'm sure I'm going to get slammed with mail. Yuck!

I'm sleepy. Is it time to go home yet????

Poodle wha?

I am so ticked off.

I went over to Mom's so I could start on my poodle skirt, which is for Saturday. Ali is having a murder mystery party. Now, before anyone gets butt-hurt, it is only a small one because Doug's mom got it for Ali for Christmas. It's only for 6 people, including Ali and Doug. So, back on topic, I went over to Mom's and got everything out and ready to go. I know better that to cut without measuring myself first. A little thing I was told from one of my co-workers is that patterns are more "true-to-size" than anything you will buy in a store. So, when I measured myself, it turns out that the pattern I bought, which is for sizes 6-12, was at least 6" too small. Yuck!

After work today ... Ali and I are going back to JoAnn Fabrics to return most of the items I bought, minus the poodle applique (pronounced appli-k) and "leash," and then be heading to a costume shop to try to find one already done.

I was really looking forward to making my own. Oh well, now I know better!

Achoo!

Ugh, what a weekend. Friday night was bowling for Girard's going away. It was a lot of fun, but a semi-early night since I was tired and Ken had to work on Saturday. I got some pics I'll post later.

Saturday I slept until 11am (wow!!) and then had gaming from 12-5. Saturday night was nice and relaxing. I just ended up watching a movie I just got, V for Vendetta. What an amazing movie. I really liked it a lot.

Sunday Ken and I woke up early, went to breakfast (after driving around for 30 minutes because Ken couldn't decide where he wanted to go), and then did a little shopping. We went to Staples for a binder, Marshalls for some new school clothes, Famous Footwear for some shoes, and then eventually back to Staples to get Ken a new computer desk and chair. After we were all done with that, we went back home and started "the move." We moved both of our computers out of the bedroom, finally, and put them in one of the spare rooms. It works out so much better this way because our room isn't super hot, we have more room, and if Ken is up late doing HW or playing around, he won't bother me while I am trying to sleep (and I won't bother him).

I woke up 30 minutes earlier than usual today because it is the first day of school for ASU, which means more traffic on the highways that I use to get to work. I don't know if it was just because I left the house earlier, or there really wasn't much traffic, but I left the house at 7am and got to work at 7:40 after stopping off to get munchies at 7-11. If I didn't stop, I would have been here by 7:30 easily. So, I'm going to assume I just made really good time. I will have to make sure I do this all week so I can get a feel of how traffic is going to be.

But after going to bed at like 11 last night, and not actually falling asleep until after midnight, I'm dragging today. Not to mention that for some strange reason I have been sneezing all day at work. I don't know if I am getting sick (I hope not), or if it is just a combination of being tired, moving stuff around yesterday and creating dust, or something. I don't know!! Bleh.

Tonight after work, I'm heading to mom's so I can start on making my poodle skirt for this weekend. I'm gonna have to find a shirt to wear as well. Should be easy, I hope! I'll have to check my closet there when I go. Dad is on a business trip in LA, dunno when he will be back, a couple days I suppose.
Wish me luck on my first real sewing project!

Micromanagement

During breaks and lunch I sit with some of the women I work with and we chat about life and work and stuff. They are all older with kids about 10 years younger than I am. They're really nice and I enjoy hearing about the things they go through in their lives.

We mostly like to complain about work and our supervisors because, to be honest, they can be quite annoying. My new boss is what they like to call "Micro Management." I wasn't quite sure what that meant, so I looked it up on Wikipedia.

In business management, micromanagement is a management style where a manager closely observes or controls the work of their employees, generally used as a pejorative term. In contrast to giving general instructions on smaller tasks while supervising larger concerns, the micromanager monitors and assesses every step.

Micro-management may arise from internal sources, such as concern for details, increased performance pressure, or insecurity. It can also be seen as a tactic used by managers to eliminate unwanted employees, either by creating standards employees cannot meet leading to termination, or by creating a stressful workplace causing the employee to leave.

Regardless of the motivation the effect can de-motivate employees, create resentment, and damage trust.

Micromanagement can also be distinguished from management by worker to boss ratio. Any time there is one worker being given orders by one boss, both people are rendered useless. When a boss can do a worker's job with more efficiency than giving the order to do the same job, this is micromanagement.

Yeah, that basically sums up my boss, though not to the extreme. She can be pretty cool sometimes, but it seems like one of those things that she's really cool and tries to be your friend to get information out of you.

Anywho, tomorrow night is Girard's going away party thing. We're going bowling! So it should be a lot of fun. This is the 2nd time Girard is moving away. Last time he moved to Va. and now he is moving to Ca. I wish him luck in his new job!

Wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too?

Wow, I feel so much better! I took an Advil PM last night around 7pm, ran around Naxx a bit, and ended up going to bed at 10pm. I had a little bit of a hard time getting up this morning, but all-in-all I feel really good!

After work is Amanda's friend, Mai, happy hour get together at Macayo's on Ash. It should be a good time, but I am not staying out late. I want to start going to bed earlier. It will make me feel better, especially since I've been feeling pretty crappy lately.

School is starting for Ken next week. I don't think he is ready for it. It's his last semester, and he will be graduating in December. I am so excited for him. I wonder how much things are going to change after that, and will they be good or bad.

Friday us people here in the A.P. department at work are going to see a movie. Which means, half day of work. We're going to see Barnyard. I'm not too sure about it, but it's a free movie, so thats fine with me.

Ok, well it turns out there is no happy hour tonight. It is getting moved to tomorrow. I was kind of looking forward to it. Oh well. I'll go home and nap until Ken gets home.

I love U2

Ugh what a day. Yesterday wasn't much better. I was up at like 4am with a painful headache. I get these once in a while. I don't know why or what causes them. It's not a migrane, that I know of. I think it's a tension headache. My shoulder/neck muscles tense up really bad. I took some ibuprofen and passed out. It turned out to be a crappy day. I was tired, and the headache was lingering around all day. I ended up leaving work early to go to the Chiropractor, where I found out that my insurance isn't going to cover my visits there because I have a "pre-existing condition." Well, DUH! So I have to call them up to bitch at them.

Last night, Ken and I went to Reverse Happy Hour at Applebees for some food, then stopped off at the grocery store so I could get some medicine for my headaches. I got the Advil PM and took one at 11pm.

Bad Idea!!

I almost overslept for work this morning and I am so sleepy. But at least my head doesn't hurt!

This weekend was a good weekend though. Except for missing Jens' Bridal Shower (Sorry Jen!!!!). I had to take my car to the shop Saturday morning because I thought there was something wrong with the breaks. They just didn't feel right. So, I dropped my car off and then went and did some shopping with Mike. There were so many sales at the mall, I guess because of back-to-school. But it was good because he got a whole bunch of work clothes really cheap. And by work clothes I mean shorts, t-shirts, and flip-flops. /jealous!!

But the dealer had my car for most of the day, so I wasn't able to make it to Jen's party. When I finally got my car, there was nothing wrong with it, which is a very good thing. Better safe than sorry, ya know?

So, tomorrow is happy hour at Macayo's on Ash. If anyone wants to come, gimme a call. It is a get-together by my friend Amanda's friend, Mai.
